Here’s a bunch of things about having your own business that are probably NOT what made you want to start your own business…
- Lots of responsibility
- Funding the business with personal money
- Hiring and firing lots of people
- Sometimes working 60-70 hours per week while employees work 40
- Waking up in the middle of the night thinking about your business
- Watching your income go up and down while your employees’ income stays steady
- Worrying about recessions, industry trends, and more
- Employees who hate you just because you’re the boss
- Risking financial security
- Should I continue?
If those aren’t the reasons…
Why DID you start your own business?
Most small business owners / entrepreneurs are looking for these 3 main things…
- Personal Freedom (Work when I want… Do what I want… Be my own boss… Escape the 9 to 5)
- Professional Freedom (Create my work, my way)
- Pay for Performance / Unlimited Opportunity (I’m competent and expect to be rewarded for that)
So many of us seems to forget along the way.
How about you?
